Transitioning from raw can be particularly challenging. Dogs who’ve been raw-fed are used to a very specific texture, aroma and moisture level, so a straight swap (even over a few days) can sometimes feel like a big change for them.
If you’re open to trying again, a few gentle transition tips that have helped other raw-fed customers include:
• Slightly warming the food to enhance aroma
• Adding a splash of warm water or bone broth to increase moisture
• Mixing a very small amount with their usual raw at first, then gradually increasing
• Hand-feeding a few pieces as “treats” to build positive association
That said, we absolutely appreciate that every dog is different.
